AB We measured hippocampal sharp-wave ripples during goal-directed visual exploration in macaques. Exploratory sharp-wave ripples were more frequent on familiar trials, in the second half of search, and near the visual target (i.e., the goal location). These spatial and temporal properties may help SWRs coordinate hippocampal and extra-hippocampal firing sequences that guide actions based on past experiences.
